Victor R. Carlson

Victor R. Carlson, 96, of Concord, NE passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel, NE. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Concord Evangelical Free Church in Concord, NE with Rev. Todd Thelen officiating. Visitation with the family present will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Victor was born on February 23, 1919 in Wayne Co., NE to Gust and Elin (Kvick) Carlson. He was baptized and confirmed in 1952 and was a graduate of Dixon High School. He married Wilma Veik and to this union one son was born. A second marriage resulted in three children. Victor was married to Arlyce Erickson in October, 1969. He worked for Dixon County, worked construction, and farmed. He also was the mayor of Concord, NE for many years. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Concord, NE. He was a pilot and built his own plane. Victor was a knowledgeable storyteller. Many young people were enamored by tales of his past. He is survived by his sons, Charles Carlson (Marcia) of Raymond, NE, Mark Carlson (Susan) of El Cajon, CA, Lynn Carlson of Perry, OK; step-son, Kevin Erickson (fiancé, Julie Bruening) of Wynot, NE; daughter, Marla Lemon (Jim) of Stillwater, OK; sisters, Violet Wickett of Laurel, NE, Bonnie Green of St. Louis, MO and Esther Craig of Topeka, KS; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; Dawn Diediker Oswald of Allen, NE, who was like a granddaughter; special family friend, Nettie Hammer of Coleridge, NE; and numerous other relatives and friends. Victor was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Veik Carlson in 1948, and most recently, Arlyce Erickson Carlson in 2013; his parents, Gust and Elin Carlson; his brothers, Carl, Oscar, and Ernie; sister, Ruth Kamrath; and brothers-in-law, Keith Wickett, Bill Craig, William Green and Emil Kamrath.
