Indianapolis- Evelyn Hughes, 86, died peacefully at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis on Friday, April 3, 2015 surrounded by her children. Evelyn was born January 26, 1929 to Anna (Ule) and Joseph Beladino in New York. Evelyn grew up in the Bronx and resided in Mt. Vernon, NY until moving to Muncie, IN. Evelyn was employed by Ball Memorial Hospital until her retirement in January 1994. She lived in Muncie until 2013 when she then moved to Indianapolis to live with her daughter. Evelyn was a kind, compassionate and generous person. She enjoyed gardening and she could make both plants and flowers flourish. She also loved animals, particularly cats and dogs. Evelyn was known to turn the most frightened stray into a happy and content pet. She also adored her grandchildren and attended many a birthday party. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Perry Hughes; the father of her children, Nicholas Gasparino; and her sisters, Catherine DiChiaro, Dorothy DiNardo, and Marie Friddle. Although Evelyn was in St. Vincent Hospice a short time, the family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the truly comforting and wonderful care and support our Mom received during this transitional time. Services will be held at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Muncie on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 1:00 pm, with visitation from 11:00 am till time of the service.
