Nancy Ann Shelton

Nancy Shelton, 72, of Webster City, died peacefully at her home on Monday, April 27, 2015. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the First Congregational - U.C.C. with Rev. Craig Blaufuss officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Nancy Ann Fischer, daughter of Delmar and Grace Peterson Fischer, was born on October 12, 1942 in Bancroft, IA. She received her education from Sentral Community School in Fenton, IA graduating in 1960. She attended the University of Iowa, majoring in voice with a minor in organ. From 1965 until she retired in 2006, Nancy taught vocal music education at Northwest Community School in Barnum, IA, Webster City elementary schools, St. Thomas-Aquinas, and Hubbard-Radcliffe community school. On June 11, 1966, she married Billie Gleston Shelton at the Presbyterian Church in Lone Rock, IA. They resided in rural Webster City where she also taught private vocal and piano in her home. Anderson and "son" Doug Riggle of Columbus, OH; sister, Margaret Menz of Marietta, GA; brother, Steve (Kim) Fischer of Lone Rock, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Nancy was a member of the First Congregational-U.C.C. where she was the "quire" director for 22 years. She also served as a Stephen Minister, KLAB music director, a member of the music committee, Evangelism board, vacation bible school music coordinator, Morning Star Circle co-chairperson, attended adult Sunday school, summer liturgist, served meals at Beacon of Hope, helped coordinate activities for the summer lunch program, RSVP pen pal, helped provide music for the Community Christmas dinner, was a member of chapter JE, P.E.O., was active in the Webster City Community Theatre, Webster City Community Choir, Fort Dodge Choral Society and Noon Kiwanis.
