Joseph A. Schneider

Joseph A. Schneider, 76 of Ambler died Wednesday in the Chestnut Hill Hospital Philadelphia. Born in Norristown, PA, he was the son of the late R. Floyd and Marguerite (nee Gambone) Schneider and was predeceased by his Brothers Ralph "Bones" F. and Herbert Schneider and his sister Mary Lou Heckler. Joe was a Graduate of Ambler High School and attended Temple University. He served in the US Army . He was the owner and operator of Schneider Electric electrical contractors in Ambler. Mr. Schneider was a member of Rotary Club of Ambler where he served as the Auctioneer for many fund raising activities. He belonged to the William Boulton Dixon Post #10 of the American Legion in Fort Washington, PA. Joe was an active member of the Fort Washington Fire Company joining in 1967 and helped to build the George Haggar Fire Training Center that was dedicated in 1971. Joe joined the Wissahickon Fire Company of Ambler in 1957 and served as a line officer for many years prior to serving as Fire Chief from 1972 to 1975 and 1977 to 1984 and as President from 1985 to 1987 and 2000 to 2001.
