Joanne M. Wilson, 80, of Glenwood, IA passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at the Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church with Reverend Paul Monahan, celebrant and Reverend Mr. Michael Carney. Burial will be in the Glenwood Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday evening, June 2, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary to begin at 5:00 p.m. and sharing of stories and scripture service to begin at 6:30 p.m. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is in charge of arrangements. Joanne Marie Nasinec, one of three children of Margurite Elanore (Zikmund) and Ralph Robert Nasinec, was born on April 27, 1935 in Conway, North Dakota. She grew up and attended grade school in Conway, and graduated from Fordville High School near Conway in 1953. Following graduation, she moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota and attended Aakers Business College in Fargo, North Dakota. Joanne and Billy Joe Wilson were married on June 27, 1959 in Grand Forks. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Bret, Julie, and Juana. Bill worked as a contractor for Iowa Power, later becoming a foreman and they moved to Glenwood, Iowa in 1965. Joanne worked for Slicks Drug for 3 years before becoming a homemaker, mother, and professional volunteer. She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary and the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as district president twice which was a first in this area. Joanne volunteered at the Glenwood Library, Mills Masquers and Catholic Daughters. She also found time for making crafts and handwork. Joanne and Billy were married nearly 31 years when Billy passed away on April 23, 1990. Joanne passed away on May 31, 2015 at the Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 80 years, 1 month, and 4 days. In addition to her beloved husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents. Joanne is survived by her three children, Bret (Peg) Wilson of Glenwood, Julie (Scott) Sears of Mitchell, IN, and Juana (John) Williams of Vancouver, WA; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Roland (Frances) Nasinec of Grand Forks, ND; sister Deanne Mahum of Fallbrooke, CA; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
