Bonnie L. Swanson

Bonnie L. Swanson, 83, formerly of Burt, died Friday, February 20, 2015, at her home in Mission, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at 10:30 AM, at the Burt Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will be held at the Burt Township Cemetery. Bounita Lou Swanson was born in Iowa City and adopted by Jurrus and Helen Yost of rural Cherokee. Her early years were spent in Cherokee county where she attended Cherokee public schools. She married Leonard Swanson in Sioux Falls, SD, on June 19, 1948. In later years, Bonnie and Leonard made their home in Burt. They retired to Scottsdale, AZ for several years where they were property managers. They then wintered in Texas where they lived in multiple communities. Eventually they became full time residents in Heritage Square in Mission, TX. Bonnie enjoyed family and especially valued the time that she spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was noted for her baking skills, turning out great caramel rolls and rum cakes. These treats were shared with the people in her life. Bonnie is survived by her husband Leonard of Mission, TX; son David and his wife Robin of Greenfield, daughter, Barbara Sultan of Mission, TX, son Dennis and his wife Florence of Algona; daughter Janene Pippitt of Mission, TX; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
