Betty J. Lane

Madison/Brooklyn - Betty J. Lane, age 93, died Monday, July 6, 2015 at home surrounded by family. Betty was born in Chicago to Henry and Rose Fortier. She married George A. Lane on June 10, 1944. Betty was a secretary at the Milwaukee Road Railroad until her marriage. She partnered with her husband in several of his businesses, and retired from a secretarial position at the UW-Madison Graduate School of Business. Her volunteer work included serving as organist for her church as well as teaching religious education classes. Survivors include her children: George (Donna), Joan Lemke (Edward), Margot Richardson (Bob), Judith Price (David), Marcia Bentley, and Elizabeth First (Doug); grandchildren: Christine, Edward, Beth, Scott, Matthew, Kimberly, Paul, William, Susannah, Mary, Kirsten and Justin; and great-grandchildren: Grayson, Elizabeth, Mason, Evan, Merrik, Jacy, Brooke, Jack, Cora, Ellie, and Lane. Betty was preceded in death by her husband George and sons, Dennis and James.
