Leonard Wesley "Wes" Johnston, 81, of Sioux City, IA, formerly of Waterbury, NE passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Westwood Nursing & Rehab Center in Sioux City, IA. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE, with military rites conducted by the Jackson and South Sioux City American Legion Posts. Visitation with the family present will begin two hours prior to the service Monday at the funeral home. Leonard Wesley Johnston was born October 22, 1933. Wes graduated from Allen High School, Class of 1951. In July 10, 1953, he began his military service in the army at Fort Benning Georgia. He was a Korean War Veteran. In 1955, Wes won the light/middleweight Golden Gloves Boxing for the United States Army. Wes graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor's degree in 1961. He possessed many skills throughout his lifetime: top real estate agent, automotive repair specialist, natural fix-it, carpenter, farmer, businessman, and special father.
