DONALD FIX WEST LIBERTY, Iowa - Donald P. Fix, 89, of West Liberty, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Simpson Memorial Home. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Edith Little will officiate. Military Honors by the combined squads of the American Legion Post #27, and the V.F.W. Post #1565 will be held at the funeral home following the service. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Muscatine American Legion following the service. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Izaak Walton League in Fairport or the Atalissa Volunteer Fire Department. As per his wishes, cremation rights have been provided by the funeral home. Donald was born on April 24, 1926, on the family farm in Andalusia, Illinois, the son of Edward 'Ed' and Ivah Roannie Pahl Fix. He married Florence Ridenour on June 17, 1951, at the New Era Lutheran Church in Muscatine. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Air Corps during World War II. He farmed most of his life. r of the Muscatine Moose Lodge and was a life member of the Izaak Walton League. He loved fishing, hunting, and playing cards. He really enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to fish. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Florence Fix of West Liberty; one son, Vince Fix and wife, Renae, of Nichols; three daughters, Vickie Adams and husband, Joe, of White City, Oregon, Vonda Ruess and husband, Bill, of Coralville, and Vanessa Riley and husband, Steve, of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren, Nick and Mike Eddings, Shanda and Dakota Fix; Charissa Popp, Casey, Cody, and Charlie Ruess, Kelsi Sheldrake, Justin Riley, Jobe Heick; and Tanner and Boston Riley; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Bryton Riley; two brothers, Harold and Floyd; and two sisters, Mae and Erma.
