LaVerne Carter

LaVerne Carter (nee Bastian) of Mequon, was called home by our heavenly Father on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the age of 92. She was born May 12th, 1923 to the late Tillie and Walter Bastian. After 21 years without him, LaVerne has gone to join her beloved husband Fred August Carter, whom she has missed so dearly. LaVerne is survived by her five daughters, Kathleen (Ronald) Bolstad of West Bend, Sally Carter of Brown Deer, Holly (George) Peltonen of Saukville, Jane Brzezinski (Greg Paprocki) of Wind Lake and Cindy McGaw of Jackson, her 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to being a loving mother and grandmother, in her earlier years, LaVerne loved to spend time gardening, canning vegetables, baking, crocheting, and playing Sheepshead. On weekends, Fred and LaVerne could always be found at their cottage on the Rock River. Recently she became a resident of Lasata Care Center. She quickly became known as the resident jokester. LaVerne loved all of the staff and residents. She always tried to make them smile and never ran out of a joke to tell. A celebration of LaVerne's life will take place on Tuesday, August 4th, 2015 at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Avenue, Cedarburg, WI.
