Marilyn Marceline Meyer, the daughter of Louis A. and Eleanora (Blome) Meyer was born April 24, 1931, in Lakota, IA. She attended and graduated from Lakota High School. After her education, Marilyn worked in town at the grocery store. She met a local boy Roger E. Thompson, and the two were married on October 31, 1954, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. To this union four children were born, Kevin, Jan, Steven and Suzanne. For a time while Roger was in the Air force, the couple moved to California. After a few years they came back to the Midwest, living in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. The couple settled back in Marilyn's hometown of Lakota in 1988. Marilyn was a giving, loving, kind and helpful person. She devoted much of her time at church, which she loved dearly. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery work, playing the piano, crossword puzzles and gardening. Lately, she spent time researching her family genealogy. She even asked her son to look up her old addresses on Google Earth to see if she could still recognize her previous homes. ota, died, Saturday August 8, 2015, at the Mayo Clinic, Mankato, MN, with her family at her side. She is survived by her children, Kevin (Linda) Thompson, Steven, Jan (Lance) Olson and Suzanne (Larry) Ackerson; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; brothers, Darwin (Marion) Meyer of Bloomington, MN, Roger (Jeanette) Meyer of Lakota, IA, and Ronald (Marion) Meyer of Lakota, IA. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 59 years, Roger Eugene Thompson.
