Charles D. Schrader

Charles Daren Schrader, 87, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Bethel Pointe. He was born to Charles Daniel and Violet (Vanatta) Schrader on November 1, 1927 in Logansport, IN. Charles proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during W.W. II and was honorably discharged on June 26, 1946 after serving on the U.S.S. Independence. He had retired from Borg-Warner Automotive after 30 ½ years of service. Following retirement, Charles had owned and operated his own furniture repair business and did repairs for many moving companies and other businesses that needed his expertise. He was the absolute best in his time. Charles served his churches, Southside Church of the Nazarene and Forest Park having served in many capacities for 62 years. At Bethel Pointe, the people there loved to hear him pray and sing. He will be missed by all of his friends there. He is survived by his loving wife of over 66 years, D. Madonna Schrader, having celebrated their 66 year anniversary on May 1, 2015 at Bethany Pointe; children, Mark D. (Janet) Schrader, Carolyn D. sisters, Ruth Wilson of Arizona, and Elaine Moore of Muncie; several nieces and nephews also survive. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles D. Schrader, II; sisters, Mae Leonard and Joann Hunt. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Park Church of the Nazarene, 2105 Memorial Drive, Muncie on Friday, September 11, 2015. Burial will take place at Elm Ridge Memorial Park where military rites will be conducted. Memorial contributions may be made to Hill Croft Cancer Research or Forest Park Church of the Nazarene.
