Dale Warren Cooksey
Dale Warren "Cookie Monster" Cooksey, 83 of Seymour, Indiana, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Schneck Medical Center. Cooksey was born February 14, 1932, in Greensburg, Indiana, the son of the late James Elmer and Lucille Reynolds Cooksey. He married Doris Isenhower on July 8, 1970, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Columbus, and she survives. Cooksey's motto was, "If I can't bounce, kick, throw or drive it, I'm not interested in it." He was a member of the Seymour First Baptist Church. He was a supervisor for the State Highway Department when they put I-65 in. He worked for Spicer Vault Company in Columbus, Indiana. Then along with his wife, Doris, became the former owner/operator of Quality Vault Company. In recent years, he was a driver and beloved member of the staff at Voss Funeral Service and Bob Poynter Chevrolet. He enjoyed golfing, driving, and NASCAR. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was always attending events his family members were participating in. 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Hurley. He is preceded in death by his parents, and bro, Joe Hurley. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Voss Chapel with Rev. Ken Earnest officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends and family may call at Voss Chapel Friday from 4-8 pm and Saturday after 9:00 am until time of service.
