Monty Scamihorn

Muncie- Monty H. Scamihorn, age 64 passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015 at his residence. Monty was born March 18, 1951 to Charles and Marjorie Louise (Parris) Scamihorn in Muncie. Monty loved life to the fullest, he was Captain at Muncie Fire Department, station #1 for 29 ½ years retiring 2007. During his years he designed the maps of the city for the planning commission, he also worked in dispatch. He also held his licensed as a scuba diver, which he held for 40 years. He photographed under water taking pictures of all the different kind of fish, and was also a cave diver. Monty was also know as the "Music Man" with the department, he had recorded many hundreds of different songs and shared those with everyone. After his retirement, he and his wife became interested in purchasing a Harley Trike Motorcycle, they rode all over the country. They even took there wedding vows on their bike in Gatlinburg, TN August 23, 2011. Monty was also a member of the Blue Knights, the Moose lodge, Muncie Fire Fighters Local #1348, and the Abate Club. Memorial contributions may be made to Nina Scamihorn. Celebration of Monty's life will be Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave, Muncie. Visitation will be Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 11:00 am till the time of the service. Burial will be at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
