Gordon Ernest Walker

Mr. Gordon Ernest Walker, 77, of rural West Burlington died at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Great River Medical Center - Klein Center. Born September 1, 1938 in Burlington, he was the son of Lawrence and Edna L. (Lyons) Walker. On September 17, 1978 he married Lois Stigge at Prairie Grove. Mr. Walker was a 1956 graduate of Burlington High School and also graduated from Burlington Community College. He worked in maintenance at Great River Medical Center for 27 years, retiring in 2005. Mr. Walker was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Burlington where he served as an Elder, Head Deacon, and a Sabbath School teacher. He sang in barbershop quartets for over 30 years and was a member of the Blackhawk 4 Quartet and Overtones. He was also a member of the Red Cross Disaster Team. He enjoyed growing roses, gardening, traveling with his wife, and was an avid Cardinal fan. Survivors include his wife, Lois Walker of rural West Burlington; one son, Estel Walker of West Plains, Missouri; one granddaughter, Savanah Walker; one brother, Paul (Wanda) Walker of Duncanville, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. rial funeral service for Mr. Walker will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 21st, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Joe Arellano officiating. Inurnment will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 8 a.m. on Wednesday and the family will receive friends from 9:30 until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. There will be a luncheon at the Klein Center following the committal service. Cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
