Mary Ann Schmidt Mary Ann Schmidt, of Port Washington passed away peacefully on October 25, 2015 at the age of 90 years. She was born October 9, 1925 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (nee Steger) Schmidt. On June 21, 1947, she married Milton Schmidt at St. Leo Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in 1977. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Christian Women's Society. Mary Ann especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards with the same group of friends for the past 61 years, was an avid reader, enjoyed baking, playing golf with the Hawthorne Honey's, and visiting with her Northwood's friends at Post Lake. For 11 years she worked as a cashier at the St. Vincent De Paul store in Port Washington. Survivors include her children Lynn (Peter) Schmit of Champaign, IL, Loran (Annette) Schmidt of Spring, TX, Mary Jo (Jim) Pauly of Port Washington, Susan (Pete) Balzer of Hartland, Mick Schmidt of Swanee, GA, Lisa Schmidt of Port Washington, Amy (Mike) Paikowski of Elcho, WI and Jim Schmidt of West Bend, 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and her sis...[more]

She was preceded in death by her husband Milton, special friend Harold "Skinny" May, 3 brothers Arthur, Clarence and Joseph and two sisters Marie and Bernice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday eve. Oct. 29, 6:30 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 430 N. Johnson St., Port Washington, with Father Pat Wendt presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation at the CHURCH Thursday from 3:30 - 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Port Catholic School, the Father Bill Pauly Memorial Fund c/o Father George Winzenburg, Red Cloud Indian School, 100 Mission Dr. Pine Ridge, SD 57770-2100 or The American Cancer Society appreciated. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
