Shirley M. Morehead

Shirley M. Morehead, 87, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Friday morning, December 4, 2015, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, December 12, 2015, from the East Iron Hill Community Church, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. There is no visitation and cremation has taken place. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family. Shirley Marie Schumacher was born on February 11, 1928 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Jack and Amelia (Schlemmer) Schumacher. She was a 1945 graduate of Maquoketa High School. She married Paul B. Morehead on June 29, 1947 in Maquoketa, Iowa. To this union two children were born: Pam and Jeff. Shirley had worked as the head secretary for the USDA/ASCS office in Maquoketa for over 30 years, retiring in 1988. Shirley was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa where she was active in women's organizations. She also was a member of the NAARF and the TOPS club in Maquoketa.
