Frederick "Fred" Royce Evans, Jr., 89 of Dumont, Iowa, passed away, Sunday, December 20, 2015, at the Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo, Iowa. He was born December 19, 1926, in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, to Frederick and Idella (Black) Evans, Sr. Fred served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was married to Shirley Funnell-Kriens on December 16, 1967. On June 28, 1970, Fred adopted Shirley's three sons, Randy, Marty and Scotty, from her previous marriage to Dallas Funnell. Fred resurfaced bowling alley lanes in seven states until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion, VFW, Shriners Kalispell and the New Hope Methodist Church in Dumont. Fred enjoyed getting together with friends, riding his motorcycle in the Shriners El Kahir and Kalispell cycle patrol, riding snowmobile with friends, but most of all holiday meal time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Dumont, son Randy (Joann) of Nashua, son Marty (Julie) of Shellsburg, brother Frances "Skeet" Evans of Maryland, eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, son Scotty "Chevy" Evans and sister-in-law Dana Evans.
