Barbara (Dean) Mills, age 68, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Okoboji, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Hawkeye Care Center in Spirit Lake. She was born on March 5, 1947, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, to Earl and LeeAnna (Schumacher) Dean. Barbara was united in marriage to Donald Mills on January 22, 1964, in Spirit Lake. Donald passed away Friday, December 25, 2015. Barbara was a homemaker and ran a day care for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. She enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, sewing, playing cards, and family. Barbara was preceded in death by her father; stepfather, Harry Nielsen; grandparents; and grandson, Douglas. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, January 4, 2016, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2016, from 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M., at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial will be at St. Margaret's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Don & Barb's names.
