Nancy M. Shillington

Nancy Marie Shillington was born November 6, 1947, in Bancroft, Iowa, the daughter of Donalan and Helen (Coyne) Shillington. She grew up in Bancroft where she attended school and in 1965, graduated from St. John's Catholic High School. She went on to attend Mankato State College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in English in 1969. Nancy's first job was teaching English at Alden, Iowa. She taught there until 1973, when she moved back to Bancroft and worked as a substitute teacher at many schools in the area. In the summer months Nancy was the manager of the North Kossuth Golf Course. In 1982, her brother, Steve and she took over the family business, Shillington Hardware, which they continued to operate together until the time of her death. Outside of operating the hardware store, Nancy was a member of the Bancroft City Council for years, as well as, the Bancroft Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed flowers and was a member of the St. John's Parish and a member of the Altar Society. Nancy died Thursday, December 31, 2015, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona, Iowa.
