Alvin R. Black, 61, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 22, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church with Deacon Dan officiating.
He is survived by his children, Randy Johnson of Mason City; Shuana Gibson; and Steven of Australia; two grandsons; siblings, Mike Lawson of Fort Dodge; Rosemary McCarty of Early; Kevin Dillavou; Fess Black and friends, Bob Savage of Fort Dodge; Todd Patterson and Lindsey Ebner of Fort Dodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Gladsum "Pearl" (Williams) Black; brothers, Gene and Lloyd Dillavou.
Alvin Ronald Black was born in Jefferson, Iowa on November 20, 1954. He attended school in Scranton, Iowa. Alvin was a "jack of all trades" that ran an auto body shop in the Scranton and Carroll areas for a period of time. He eventually established his home in Fort Dodge where he continued to work as a handy man. Al enjoyed automobiles, especially vintage cars. Alvin was a member of the Holy Trinity Parish.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
