Carl D. Dickerson October 27, 1931 - March 13, 2016 Anderson-Carl D. Dickerson, 84, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Community Hospital Anderson, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 27, 1931, in Muncie, the son of Carl and Beatrice Dickerson. On April 11, 1949 he married Patsy Mangus and together they shared 64 years of matrimony. He was a hard-working man who cherished his wife and was dedicated to being the best father and provider for his family. He was truly the foundation of his close-knit family who shared some of his traits and represented the Dickerson name in a way that brought him much happiness and pride. There were so many attributes his children admired and treasured about their father. Just when he couldn't do better in their eyes, they witnessed him lovingly caring for their mother with amazing patience and tender understanding as she struggled with Alzheimer's disease. He maintained a special bond and friendship with several colleagues he worked with throughout his career. His friends appreciated their relationship and remember him most for being a great mentor. Survivors include five children, Kathy Dickerson (husband, Louie), Gary Dickerson, Dave Dickerson (wife, Nancy), Dot Kemp (husband Rick), and Bea Bray (husband George); 9 siblings, Otis, Mary Highlands, Nora Weedon, Mardella Steiger, Joe, Diane Murray, John, Becky Isom, Mike, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy (Mangus) Dickerson, his parents, Carl and Beatrice Dickerson, brother William, sister Ruth Warfield Private family ceremony and services will be held. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff at Bethany Nursing Home and the staff at Community Hospital Anderson-Hospice Care for all of the loving care they gave to Carl.
