Roy J. Coleman

A memorial service for 67 year old Roy Coleman of Spirit Lake, will be held Monday, May 9, 2016, at 7:00 PM at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until service time on Monday. Roy John Coleman, the son of Ronald and Ruth (Baker) Coleman, was born on January 17, 1949 in Estherville, Iowa. He graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1967. Roy served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. On August 24, 1979 Roy was united in marriage with Annie Woods in Windom, MN. Roy had worked cutting trees, running a sawmill and sheet rocking. He worked as a machinist at Ferguson Manufacturing for 20 years, retiring in 2011. Roy enjoyed gardening, bird watching and raising bees. He loved music, listening to Blues, playing his guitars and collecting guitars. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Emily Coleman of Milford and Abe Coleman of Spirit Lake; two grandchildren; his former wife, Annie Woods of Spirit Lake; his mother, Ruth Coleman of Spirit Lake; and five brothers, Dawayne (Deloris) Coleman of Silver City, N.M., Ronald (Peg) Coleman Jr. of Eagle River, AK, Mike (Diane) Coleman of Albuquerque, N.M., Larry Coleman of Spir...[more]
