Daniel Helm

Daniel Curtis Helm, 53, of Indianapolis, passed away May 27, 2006. He was born in Louisville, KY to William and Kathlene (Willick) Helm on April 29, 1953. He graduated from Ben Davis High School, Franklin College and received his Masters from Indiana University. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity while a student at Franklin College. Daniel had worked as Head Coach and Athletic Trainer at Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA. He played for the Indiana basketball college All-star?s, against Ohio, his senior year of college. Memberships include the Blue Key National Honor Fraternity, Marion County Athletic Association and Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Daniel was a Physical Education Teacher at Pike High School where he had worked for 10 years as the Head Athletic Trainer, and a Health and Substance Abuse Teacher. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 31 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel 740 E. 86th St., Indianapolis. Funeral service for Daniel will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1 in First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with additional visitation at the church one hour prior. Daniel will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He touched many lives and stayed in touch with several of his former students. He had a love for life, family, friends, kids and animals.
