General from 1957 to 1962. Thereafter he served as an associate professor and professor emeritus of Dermatology at IU School of Medicine. He awarded a silver medal for his research from the American Medical Association in 1954. He was instrumental in securing an independent Department of Dermatology at Indiana University School of Medicine in 1962 with the assistance of Dr. Clarence Livengood, past chair of the American Board of Dermatology and the American Academy of Dermatology. He practiced Dermatology for 55 years until his retirement in 2005 when his daughter, Dr. Sally Booth assumed care of his patients. His memberships include, American Board of Dermatology, American Medical Association, Indiana State Medical Association, Indianapolis Medical Society recognized for 50 years of distinction, American Academy of Dermatology, and American Society of Dermatological Surgery. He was an avid gardener, expert poker player and loved sports. He was beloved by his patients and friends for his dedication, integrity and wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, JoAnn, his children Cynthia, Sally, and Charles, four grandchildren, Eli, Daniel, Sarah and DeDe and one great grandchild, Jacob. Calling will be Friday, October 12th from 4-8 pm in the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel. A private family graveside will be Saturday, October 13th at Crown Hill Cemetery.
