Eugene "Gene" M. Dodd
Eugene "Gene" M. Dodd, of Indianapolis, died June 20, 2013. Gene was born July 7, 1926 to Claude and Ruth Ann (Overbey) Dodd who preceded him in death, as well as his six brothers: Robert, William, James, Joseph, Frank, and Donald and their sister: Barbara Ann Bishop.
Gene graduated from Broad Ripple High School and furthered his education to achieve his electrician's license. In 1948 he married Joan Pixley and they raised two sons: Larry and Dale Dodd.
Gene and his brother Don formed Dodd Electric Service in 1952 and later added Keystone Lighting and Supply. Lastly they developed Dodd Realty to manage their rental properties.
Gene was a life member of Indiana Gun Club, Crooked Creek Conservations Club, Porsche Club of America, and the Sports Car Club of America. When he decided that he had accomplished all that he could at Skeet Shooting - as he was a Champion AA in all four gauges of competitions, he turned to sports car racing. Fifteen years and many trophies later he retired from driving to buld a Formula Ford for son Larry to race.
