Claudine Teresa Frueh

Claudine Frueh, 85, of Glenwood, passed away Tuesday evening at the Hospice with Heart House in Glenwood. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church with Reverend Dan Siepker, celebrant. Burial will be in St. Edward's Catholic Cemetery in Afton, Iowa. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary to begin at 6:45 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the family. Claudine Teresa Frueh, one of six children of Ethyl Mae (Heine) and John William Frueh, was born on July 16, 1930, on her parents' farm near Afton, Iowa. She grew up in the Afton area and attended school for three years, then graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Des Moines, Iowa. Claudine worked as a secretary in Des Moines for Republic Pictures and had the great opportunity to meet movie star, Roy Rogers. Claudine and Keith E. McVay were united in marriage on December 31, 1952 at St. John's Catholic Church in Des Moines. s born. The family moved to live in Mt. View, California. Following Keith's discharged from the Navy, the family returned to Iowa to live in Des Moines where daughter Teresa and son Kelly were born. Claudine and Keith had been married almost 16 years, when Keith passed away on December 20, 1968. Claudine moved to Glenwood, Iowa in 1992. Claudine was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Glenwood. She was a Foster Grandparents volunteer at the Glenwood Resource Center. Claudine enjoyed spending time with her family. Claudine passed away on May 17, 2016 at the Hospice with Heart Home in Glenwood, at the age of 85 years, 10 months, and 1 day. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Keith McVay; son-in-law Jerry DeBolt; brother John E. "Jack" Frueh; and brother-in-law Jack Shepherd. Claudine is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Harig (George Hix) of Algona, IA and Teresa DeBolt (Lou Friestad) of Johnston, IA; son Kelly McVay of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren, Nolan Harig, Jessica Holbrook, Jacob DeBolt, and Adam DeBolt; one great grandson Jerry Daniel "JD" Holbrook; sisters, Margaret Shepherd of Towanda, KS and Patricia Frueh of Nerinx, KY; brothers, William Frueh and wife Denise of Oshkosh, WI, and Charles Frueh and wife Martha of Little Rock, AR; other relatives; and a host of friends.
