Stanley J. Shaffer

Stanley J. Shaffer, 83, of Indianapolis died on May 18th 2016. He was born July 3, 1932 to Herbert Shaffer and Lena Esther Colby (Howard P. Colby - step father). He was born and raised in Geetingsville, Indiana. He grew up on the farm and enjoyed driving tractors and riding horses. Stanley graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He retired from IBM as a Customer Engineer in 1991 after 33 years with the company. Stanley always enjoyed entertaining an audience of family and friends with a humorous story or experience, watching a race or sporting event, and taking care of his cars; but more than anything else, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Stanley was preceded in death by his mother, father, step-father, and brothers (Terry and Steven Shaffer). Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Alice Shaffer, his sons, Byron and Bradley (wife: Michele), his grandchildren (Brian and Mackenzie), and his brother Kenton Colby (wife: Nancy).
