lo Alto County and the Palo Alto County Garden Club. She had a strong faith and was an active member of Holy Family Parish. Liz sang in the church funeral choir, and she was a member of Catholic Daughter's of the Americas. Liz had a wide range of interests. She played the violin in the school orchestra. She sewed and made prom dresses and wedding dresses for her daughters. She enjoyed drawing, genealogy and writing. She wrote many poems and short stories, and she was a correspondent for the Fort Dodge Messenger. Liz also wrote publicity and feature stories for the St. Pat's Association. One of her stories was published in the "Irish America" magazine. She was an original do-it-yourselfer. She made do with what she had and turned it into something great for her family. More than anything, Liz treasured spending time with all of her family. On May 29, 2016, Liz passed away at the Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Linda Hubbell (Howard) of Guttenberg, Iowa, Mary Burke (Tim) of Storm Lake, IA, Jayne Lang (Ken) of Emmetsburg, IA and Don Culligan (Kim) of Marshall, MN, Linda Culligan and the late Michael Culligan of Carroll, IA; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Liz was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; son, Michael; sister, Mary Weiland; brother, John Fitzpatrick; granddaughter, Molly Burke; and her great-grandson, Gage Burke.
