he next year they moved to Carson, Iowa where he began his career working as the Vocational Agriculture Instructor for the Oakland/C-M School Districts. He was a member of the Riverside FFA, Carson Community Rodeo, and the Riverside Trap Shooting. As a huge Nebraska Cornhusker fan, Sherm and his friends tailgated in lot 20 and used their season tickets to watch the game from "the best worst seats in the house", section 18, row 98. He and Shelly enjoyed driving around Iowa on their Harley when they were not in their backyard gun range shooting their 1911s. His dad bought Sherm his first horse, Little Red Penny, when he was four, which inspired his love of horses. He and Shelly have raised many horses, cats, and dogs. Over the years, Sherm created many memories taking students to the Iowa State Fair and National FFA Convention. Sherm was preceded in death by both his parents; and father-in-law Kenneth Mowery. He is survived by his loving wife Shelly; sister Reva (Kent) Benefiel of Hamburg, IA; mother-in-law JoAnn Mowery of Texas; brother-in-law Mark (Susan) Mowery of Hurst, TX; nephew Zachary Benefiel; nieces, Kaitlin Benefiel, Mandy Mowery, Megan Mowery, and Amy Mowery; other relatives; and a host of close friends.
