Margaret (Leffingwell) Chadwick, 93, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 7, 1923 to Theodore and Wilma (Mary) Leffingwell in Muncie, Indiana. She graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1941. Margaret worked for Warner Gear, Ind Michigan Power, and took extension courses from Purdue University. Her family moved to Jacksonville, FL for a time, then to Columbus, OH. While in Columbus, she took drafting classes at Ohio St. while working for North American Aviation. With an associates degree, she began a career in engineering with the company. She had a drafting machine and took it with her to Hunstville, AL ; Orlando Fl; Marietta, Georgia (working for Martin Marietta) and then to Stratford Connecticut, working for Sikorsky Aircraft.. She also worked for Boeing for a time. She married Charles Chadwick, a mechanical engineer with Sikorsky. For years Margaret has been a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston Massachusetts. When they retired, they moved to her home town of Muncie. rgia. She is also survived by a sister, Jo Ann Morrow, and several niece's and nephews, which include, Marsha, Patty, Bruce, Marc, Judy, Tammie, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles, whom she married on November 1, 1983, and sister, Betty Leffingwell Clevenger; brother's-in-laws, Ferrell Clevenger and Edwin Morrow; son-in-law, Paul Austin. The family would like to thank the entire staff of American Heritage Partners of Yorktown for their loving and kind care for mom during the past two years and to mom's caregivers, Bonnie, Brenda, Becky, Betty, Heidy, Terri, Angela, Marissa, Diana, Taylor, Vickie, and Chrissey. Also, we would like to thank Premier Hospice for their care and compassion as well. Services will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, IN 47304 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
