Ladd Lewis

Laddy Russell Lewis, better known as Ladd Lewis, went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. He was 72 years of age and a resident of Fort Lauderdale and Key Largo, Florida. Ladd is survived by his wife, Brenda Carr; his mother, Beulah Lewis; daughter Leigh Lewis; and sons Russell Lewis and John Chadwick. Born in Pineville, Kentucky on March 20, 1944, Ladd was the son of Edwin Russell and Beulah (Helton) Lewis. He was raised in Jackson, Mississippi and attended the University of Mississippi at Oxford and Belhaven University in Jackson. Ladd was a Sergeant in the Army Reserve from 1966-1972 where he received the Army Expert Badge for Marksmanship. He went on to become a commercial pilot achieving the rank of Captain before becoming an Aviation Safety Inspector for the Federal Aviation Administration. Ladd will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, patience, quick wit and dry humor. He was wise, gifted, professional, incredible with the spoken and written word, and exceptionally knowledgeable about the industry he loved, Aviation. nesday, July 13th at The Church By The Sea in Fort Lauderdale. The Reverend Chris Reny, Pastor and a close friend of the family, led the service. Pallbearers, also known as "Ladd's Men" included the Reverend Reny, Russell Lewis, John Chadwick, Gary Carr, Stewart Hedberg, and Jeremy Robertson. Ladd is buried at the Evergreen Cemetery, in Fort Lauderdale. We will miss him every day. In the words of a good friend and colleague, "As all of us are better for having known Ladd - so heaven will benefit."
