Viola A. Istvan, 93 of Ft. Lauderdale, passed away on July 20, 2016. Vi, Mom, Grandma, Gigi was known for her smile, beautiful white hair, and her banana bread. She loved working as a nurses' aid and later as a hostess at JM Pontiac. Viola was born October 28, 1922 to Elvin and Gladys (Hildebrand) Adams in Hallandale, FL. She first married Thomas Wheeler, Sr. ( deceased 1967) and moved to a Georgia farm where their six children were born and raised. She became resourceful and proficient at sewing, gardening, canning and cooking. Viola returned to Florida in 1970 and later married George Istvan, Sr. ( deceased 1995). Together they enjoyed years of membership in the Gold Coast Polish American Club, entertaining and traveling. Predeceased by brothers Richard and Paul Adams, grandson Brian Collison, great-grandson Blake Wheeler. Survived by sons Tom, Richard (Annie), Paul and Bruce Wheeler; daughters Susan Chaparro (Joe) and Kay Bigwood (David); stepdaughter Patti Istvan Dobson and stepson George Istvan, Jr.; 13 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
