Shirley June McKinney fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church passed away peacefully on August 17, 2016. June was the beloved daughter of the late J.A. and Frances Marsden, Jr. of Pueblo, Colorado. As a loving and devoted wife of fifty-three years to the late Benjamin F. (Ben) McKinney, June was the caring mother of their eight children: Linda King of Indianapolis, IN; Jefty (Sandy) McKinney of Indianapolis, IN; Jacque (Steven) Kirsh of Indianapolis, IN; Damian (Lori) McKinney of San Diego CA; Gerard McKinney (died in infancy); Michele (Ian) Gentis of Germantown, TN; Shannon McKinney Phillips of Indianapolis, IN; Toni (Robert) Henke of Plano, TX; sister to Sheila Bickerton of San Leandro, CA and sister-in-law to Marianne (Doug) Pardee of Rancho Santa Fe, CA: and grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. June was a dear aunt, cousin and loving friend to many. June was born on June 9, 1924 and raised in Pueblo, CO. uthern and Northern California before moving to Dallas, TX. In 1966, after leaving Dallas, they moved to Indianapolis, IN and in 1973 formed their own company, Oxide & Chemical Corporation. Ben and June were the successful entrepreneurs of Oxide & Chemical Corporation for 17 years. They sold their business in 1990 and enjoyed a happy retirement traveling and residing in Indiana, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, and Texas. After Ben's death in 2000, June continued to live in Frisco, TX and Carlsbad, CA. Ben and June were long time members of the Highland Country Club, Indianapolis Country Club, and the Skyline Club all in Indianapolis. They also maintained memberships at Skyline Country Club in Tucson, AZ; and Stonebriar Country Club of Frisco, TX. June was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Indianapolis and most recently St. John's Catholic Church in Encinitas, CA. Ben and June will always be remembered for their love and generosity to those less fortunate. Their philanthropic gifts and many acts of human kindness have brightened the lives of many individuals and families. Ben and June lived their lives by the Golden Rule and were faithful Christians. A celebration of June's life with a funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, in the Chapel, 9001 Haverstick Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46240. Visitation will begin at 10:30a.m and a rosary will be held at 11:00a.m. Mass will follow at 11:15a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital, in Indianapolis, IN.
