avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, holding season tickets for 26 years and attending the Rose Bowl twice, Orange Bowl and the Final Four basketball games. He did a baseball tour visiting the 12 eastern Major League Parks. He continued his love for the black and gold by cheering on the Emmetsburg E-Hawks and raising the flag at the beginning of the games. He rarely missed a game until recently. He liked to stay busy working crosswords and putting together puzzles. His love of travel took him around Europe and many US states. His love for music took him to many of the "Big Bands" and he enjoyed attending the Glenn Miller festival in Clarinda for 17 years. His family was always at the top of his list; he especially loved seeing his grandchildren in all of their activities including: dance recitals, music concerts, plays, sports and other various activities they were involved in, as well as watching cartoons with the kids. On August 21, 2016, Lawrence passed away at his home with his family. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Betty of Emmetsburg; two sons: Steve (Susie) of Manson, IA and Dave (Cindy) of Prarie Du Sac, WI; his grandchildren: Zach and Natalie Reese, and Elliot and Emerson Drew; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Marie Drew and Arlene Joynt of Emmetsburg and Adeline Drew of Oak View, CA; brother-in-law, Clete Elbert of Emmetsburg and many nieces and nephews. was preceded in death by his parents; three children: Isaac, John and Mary Beth; three brothers: Eugene, Maurice and Harold; and two sisters, Veronica and Theresa.
