Shirley A. Evans

Shirley A. Evans, 72, Muncie, passed away Sunday morning, August 21, 2016 at I U Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born February 23, 1944 in Muncie, the daughter of Donald and Dorothy (Hannon) Herbert. Shirley grew up in the Muncie area and drove a school bus for Muncie Community Schools for thirty-five years until she retired. She enjoyed cooking, baking pies and especially spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her children, Vicki Rhonemus (husband Randy), Karen Cox, Paul Whitaker (fiancé Tiffany), Lonny Whitaker (wife Sandy) and Troy Whitaker (wife Missi); brothers and sisters, Mary Stader, Carroll Herbert (wife Joyce), Carolyn West, Phyllis Weaver (husband Francis), Sharon Wise (husband Larry), Linda Badders (husband Mike), Diana Lykins and Debora Gross; brother-in-law, Lewie Nixon; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Dorothy Herbert; her husband, Roy Evans; son, Mark Whitaker; brothers, Donny Herbert and Johnny Herbert; and a sister, Dorothy Nixon.
