John was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE and served as Union Secretary for the Brotherhood of Maintenance Railway Union. John enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, reading western novels and traveling. Survivors include his children, Linda (Joe) Mildorfer of South Sioux City, NE, Ron (Anne) Saltzman, Sharon (Robert) Demke and Duane (Willa) Saltzman all of Emerson, NE and Karen (Tim) Vogel of Papillion, NE; grandchildren, Sara, Nicole, Matt, Ben, Brandi, Natashia, Litton, Nick, Megan, Justin Neil, Laurel, Abby and Lexi; many great-grandchildren; sister, Betty (Dave) Laumbach and brother, Jim (Teresa) Santee all of South Sioux City, NE; sister-in-law, Pat Saltzman of N. Sioux City, SD; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Saltzman; his parents, John Saltzman and Dorothy Santee; and siblings, Rosella (John) Reese, Tom Saltzman, Sr. and Martin Santee.
