Donna M Knapek

Donna M. Knapek, of Antigo, died Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Rosalia Gardens under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 89 years old. She was born on April 18, 1927 in the town of Vilas, a daughter of William and Anna (Pilhofer) Weisshahn. She married Frank Knapek on August 7, 1946 in the town of Summit. He preceded her in death in June of 1988. After marriage the couple moved to Chicago and in the late 1950's settled in Crystal Lake, Ill. until retirement. In 1991 she moved to Antigo. Donna enjoyed traveling having been to most of the United States. She went to Alaska twice and took trips to Germany and Switzerland. She was known for her cooking and baking skills and shared baked items with neighbors and friends. She had beautiful flower gardens and worked for many years in floral shops in Crystal Lake and Antigo. Her love for the outdoors and fishing was shared during family vacations and with her brother Hank. Her greatest love was for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. igo, Nancy (Lawrence) Levin of Mount Prospect, IL, Janet (Robert) Krivoshein of Deerbrook; son, Bruce Knapek (special friend Kim Weber) of Belvidere, IL; son in law, Mark Behrens of Independence, MO; nine grandchildren Brock and Amy Murphy, Franklin (Amanda) and Matthew (LaTressa) Behrens, Cody, Charlie and Abby Knapek, Amanda and Luke Krivoshein; two great-granddaughters Sophie and Destiny; a sister, Bernadine Frick of Merrill; a brother, Henry Weisshahn of Antigo. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Behrens, and a son Peter in infancy; a sister, Lillian (Henry) Pavlichek, a brother, Robert Weisshahn, a brother in law, Elmer Frick, and a sister in law, Betty Weisshahn. The funeral services will be held on Monday September 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. David Karolus officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rosalia Gardens for their Hospice Addition.
