Hazel G. Tomek, 80, of Dakota City, NE passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in St. Michael's Cemetery in South Sioux City, NE. Hazel was born on September 13, 1936 in Seattle, WA, the daughter of Howard and Hazel Jesper. She grew up, attended school and worked as a dance instructor in Des Moines, WA. Hazel married Harry Tomek on August 11, 1953 at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Des Moines, WA. They were married for 63 years. The couple lived in St. Louis, MO for 29 years before moving to Dakota City in 1981. Hazel worked in a bakery, a piston ring factory, and in housekeeping for several motels over the years. She also worked in the kitchen at St. Michael's School in South Sioux City until she retired due to health reasons.
