Kyle "Oddie" Bates
Stoughton- Kyle "Oddie" Bates, age 30, of Stoughton, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 unexpectedly. He was born on January 1, 1986 at St. Mary's hospital in Madison, to Don and Janis (Nelson) Bates. Oddie was currently working in Vermont on the pipeline with his brother. Kind, compassionate, hardworking and athletic are a few words that have been used to describe him. Oddie touched many lives with his magnetic personality and infectious smile. Many people referred to him as Kyle with a smile, or a gentle giant who gave the best and biggest hugs. In his spare time Oddie enjoyed playing sports, hunting, fishing, listening to country music, working out at "the land," and occasionally buying a scratch off. He was a member of the Utica HTL team, as well as many other teams over the years. But, most importantly spending time with family was what he valued most. Kyle earned the title he was most proud of this past October, "Uncle Oddie." He was a great friend and will be forever loved and missed by all. y many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Uncle Dude; and Bailee Mae. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, September 26, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, Stoughton. Burial will take place in Cooksville Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon following the burial at The Stoughton American Legion. Visitation will be held from 2 PM until 6 PM on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, and from 10 AM until the time of service Monday at church.
