Frances Marie Northup

Mrs. Frances Marie Northup, 94, of West Burlington, died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born September 26, 1915 at her parents' home in Burlington, she was the daughter of John and Clara Taeger Rutz. On June 5, 1941 she married Walter Northup in Oak Street Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1991. Mrs. Northup was a homemaker. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church and was involved in many church activities including, deaconess, chairperson of the wedding committee, and a member of Womens' Missionary Fellowship and Ruth Circle. She made thousands of bandages for hospitals in Cameroon and Nigeria. She served as past president of the Railroad Retirees Auxiliary. She also loved gardening, cooking and spending time with her family Survivors include one daughter, Mary (Donald) Wemmie of West Burlington; one son, Don Northup of West Burlington; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Rev. Gary Karas will officiate. Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service. A memorial has been established for Oak Street Baptist Church.
