On August 27, 2016 Bill Jury passed on to eternal life with his Everlasting Father at Judson Park Retirement Community in Des Moines, WA. Bill was born in Bellingham on October 14, 1927 to Raymond and Frances (Bush) Jury.
Bill graduated from Bellingham High School in 1946 and then served two years in the U.S. Navy as a journalist. A member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, Sigma Delta Chi (professional journalism honorary), and the Oval Club, Bill was Editor-in-Chief of the University of Washington's The Daily, graduating from the UW's School of Journalism in 1952. He was also a sports writer during this time for The Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
Bill married Jo Sorensen of Lynden in 1950. They moved their growing family to Snohomish (Snohomish County Tribune), Richland (General Electric public relations at Hanford), and, finally, the Seattle area where he retired in 1990 as Public Relations and Advertising Director for Boeing Aerospace.
One of his proudest personal accomplishments was summiting Mt. Rainier at the age of 50. He kept Boeing News readers abreast with several articles of his "old man" efforts at training and the climb.<...[more]
Bill is survived by Jo, his loving wife of 66 years, and children Michael Jury (Patricia Walker), Marion Marchant (Larry), Mark Jury (Kathryn Alexander), Colleen Jury (Robert Hamilton). He is also survived by his brother Robert Jury (Margaret), brother-in-law Howard Sorensen (Melinda), grandchildren Daniel, Briana, Marta, Brett, Soren, Dutch and Dann, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Bill's daughter-in-law, Laurie Jury (Burns), preceded him in death.
