Born February 18, 1918 in Lamar, Oklahoma. Died Jan. 13th, 2004 in Seattle of Cancer. He attended school in Lamar and graduated from Moss High School in 1936. Later attended Oklahoma University and in 1940 World War II was drafted into the United States Air Force. He went to the Air Force Cadet school for flying. On graduation he taught Pilots to fly the B-17, later Bill went on to fly the B-29 heavy bomber as Captain and was stationed on Tinian Island in the South Pacific. He flew 36 missions over Japan during 1945. After the war he moved to Seattle and worked for PNB and US West Telephone Company for 35 years, retiring in 1981. Bill was an active member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod at Maltby, WA. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Trudy, daughter Loraine Higgins of Bothell, WA; son John and daughter-in-law Claudia of Carnation, WA., granddaughter Sarah/Ben Kelm of Bozeman, Montana, grandson Mitchell Higgins of Woodinville, WA granddaughter Laura Higgins of Carnation.
