Hazel Marie Reed

Hazel Marie Reed, 81, Albany, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Albany Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's which she did not allow to defeat her. She was born May 20, 1935 in Muncie to Lester Erdle and Margaret (Dealy) Williams. Hazel had worked at various restaurants serving as a waitress and a cook. She had been a member of the Muncie Moose Lodge. Hazel is survived by her husband, Karl Reed, whom she married September 12, 1952; sons, Douglas (Barbara) Reed and Jerry Reed; daughter, Lisa (Les) Coutinho; sister, Betty Crippin; grandchildren, Contessa (Shane) Stilts, John (Meagan) Coutinho, Aaron (companion Christy) Reed, Allyson (Dan) Oryczcak, Kristi (Jerry) Shriner, Kari Reed, Kandi (Jason) Thompson, Haley (Kaleb) Patton, and Jarrod (fiance' Lauren) Reed; twenty-three great-grandchildren with two on the way; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, IN 47304 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rory Bond officiating.
