n county and state fairs, where they received numerous awards. During the same time, he began developing commercial and residential real estate, including Wallingwood and Lantern Hills subdivisions. In 1963, he purchased a farm in Cambridge City, Indiana, moving his family to that location and again expanding his purebred Angus cattle herd. He enjoyed participating in and winning national and international competitions, and his herd was considered one of the best in the country. At eighty years of age, he purchased a farm in Brookston, Indiana, and continued his interest in the cattle business until his late eighties. In 1972, upon moving back to Lawrence, Indiana, Paul built and operated the Sheraton Motor Inn along with his brother-in-law Ed Martin. He was a member of Lawrence Optimist Club. In the 1950's, Paul began many years of loyal service to the Republican party. He hosted fund raising events at his farm and later at the Sheraton Motor Inn. He supported and advised many local, state and national candidates throughout his lifetime. In later years, Paul and Connie spent the winters in Miami and Port Charlotte, Florida. Paul was a member of Lawrence United Methodist Church, and later at E. 91st Street Christian Church and Legacy Church. He was generous with his support of countless Christian endeavors, and will be remembered as an encourager of people in all walks of life. He enjoyed telling a good story and relating to others in a personal way, and will be remembered as a man of faith and conviction. Most of all, he was truly loved and will be greatly missed. Services will take place at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 22, 2016, also at Leppert Mortuary, Nora. Entombment to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery, 10612 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229. In lieu of flowers, Paul's family asks that donations be made in his memory to the donor's favorite charity.
