Rachel H. Kamil

Rachel Hopewell Kamil passed away with her daughter by her side on November 22, 2016. Rachel was born in New Bern, NC in 1934 to Guy and Elizabeth Hopewell. She attended Jasper High School, where she played forward on the championship basketball team, then attended U. of Miami College of Arts and Sciences. Rachel met Warren Edward Kamil in 1954 and they married September 3, 1955 in New Bern. They moved to Miami in 1957 and had one child, Lisa. Rachel was a real estate agent, then broker, serving on numerous committees over her 20 year career. Rachel was an accomplished seamstress and cook, fabulous hostess, enthusiastic world traveler and avid sports fan. Rachel was a gracious, beautiful woman and a loving, devoted mother. She will be sorely missed by her daughter Lisa Wintter, brothers and sisters Maxine Dawson, Guy Hopewell Jr. (Joyce), Elizabeth James, Robert Hopewell (Janeth), many nieces and nephews and by everyone who knew and loved her.
