Rich Cody, 53, of rural Oakland passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Wheeler Grove U.C.C. in rural Carson. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Carson. Memorials: Directed to the family Richard Alan Cody, one of four children of Francis George and Marilyn June (Mullins) Cody, was born on November 24, 1963 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He graduated from the Carson-Macedonia High School in 1982 and attended Iowa Lakes Community College where he received his Associate's Degree in Farm Management. Rich worked for a dairy in West Point, Nebraska for five years. Rich raised cattle in the Carson, Iowa area and worked as a commodities future broker until his health declined. Rich and Annette Elizabeth Nielsen were married on May 7, 1983 in Wolbach, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Justin, Jesse and John. a laugh that was contagious and was a wonderful husband, dad, son, brother and grandpa. Rich passed away at his rural Oakland, Iowa home on November 29, 2016 at the age of 53 years and 5 days. He was preceded in death by his father Francis Cody in 2011; and brother-in-law David Chappell in 2009. Rich is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ann Cody of Oakland; children, Justin (Katie) Cody and their children, Isabelle and Hannah (and baby Logan due in February 2017) of Carson, IA, Jesse Cody of Griswold, IA, and John (Taylor) Cody and their child Cayne of Griswold; mother Marilyn Cody of Griswold; siblings, Ron Cody of Macedonia, IA, Michaele (Brad) Carman of Griswold, and Randy (Lynn) Cody and their children Rebecca and Sarah of Carson; other relatives and many friends.
