Action Agency, Sec'y-Treas. of the Newcastle-Vermillion Bridge Project, volunteered for Nebraska Social Services and Adult Basic Education program. In the early 80's she helped found the Newcastle Community Club and was instrumental in getting the new fire hall built. She was also a member of the committee to obtain the first ambulance in Newcastle, which was named "Elsie Mae". Elsie enjoyed spending time with her family, volunteering and being involved in various social activities, gardening and her flowers. Survivors include her children, Sheryl Anderson of Newcastle, NE, Linda (Carrol) Fountain of Lincoln, NE and Rod A. (Linda Ann) Lund of Newcastle, NE; 7 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Max (Mary Lou) Martinsen of Cherokee, IA; sister-in-law, Nina Martinsen of Newcastle, NE; brother-in-law, Connie (Vi) Lund of FL; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel and Bertha Martinsen; her husband, Palmer Lund; son-in-law, Robert Anderson; 5 brothers, Clarence, Elmer, Glenn, Lloyd and Dean; and 2 sisters, Lois and Donna.
