Lu Kennedy Mary Lucille (Ittenbach) Kennedy was born February 10, 1918, and passed away December 16, 2016 after a long and fruitful life. A lifelong resident of Indianapolis and a devout Catholic, Mrs. Kennedy was a graduate of St. Philip Neri School and St. Mary Academy. She worked in her husband's consulting business and spent many volunteer hours supporting organizations such as Little Sisters of the Poor. An avid golfer, Mrs. Kennedy was a member of Ulen Country Club in Lebanon. She had a talent for handwork--upholstery, making drapes, sewing, and needlework, but she invested most of her time in family and friends, her true loves. Mrs. Kennedy enriched life with thoughtfulness and beauty and awoke each day to enjoy life's little miracles--the song of a bird, opening of a flower bud, or laughter of a child. Mrs. Kennedy is predeceased by her beloved parents, Mary Josephine (Adolay) Ittenbach and William P. Ittenbach; her cherished husband, Walter C. Kennedy; her sister, best friend, and confidant, Ruth (Ittenbach) Teipen; and scores of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Left with fond memories of their favorite aunt are Robert C. sen (Paul), Mary Beth Walby (Mark); their nine children and 22 grandchildren (with 2 more due in the spring); and many other family members and friends. The family is grateful for the loving care Mrs. Kennedy received from the wonderful staff at Marquette Health Center. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 20, starting at 9:30 am in the Courtney Room at St. Luke's Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 am at the church. Burial at Calvary Cemetery will follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, her favorite charities were Little Sisters of the Poor, Catholic Radio Indy and Sisters of Providence.
