James Everett Shotwell, 77, of Tipton, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. In honoring James' wish, there will be no funeral service. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials in Jim's honor may be directed to the Friends of the Animals Shelter or the American Cancer Society. Jim was born on November 8, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa to Harold and Margaret (Garlick) Shotwell. He attended Tipton Schools. Jim was united in marriage to Dorothy Stigers on October 30, 1987, in Iowa City. Jim's employment years were spent working alongside his dad at Shotwell's garage, until his dad's retirement when he then took over and owned and operated for 47 years.
Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman, earning frequent bragging rights amongst his friends. He was a member of the NRA, UKC, PKC and Kemmer Cur Club.
